Top 25 Transfers That Could Happen In The 2022 Summer Transfer Window

The 2022 summer transfer window is here and it promises to be exciting. Some high-profile transfers have already taken place; Erling Haaland to Manchester City, Ivan Perisic to Tottenham, Aurélien Tchouaméni to Real Madrid and Alexandre Lacazette to Lyon.

More blockbusting transfers are expected before the window closes.

1. Darwin Nunez

Darwin Nunez is the hottest property on the transfer market this summer due to his exploits in the just concluded season.

At just 22 years old, the Uruguayan striker astonishingly scored 34 goals in 41 games in all competitions last season — including 6 in 10 games in the UEFA Champions League.

Liverpool and Manchester United are battling for Nunez’s signature from Benfica. And Liverpool seem to have won the race after bidding €85m for him. Jurgen Klopp wants him as a replacement for the departing Sadio Mane.

2. Gabriel Jesus

The arrival of Erling Haaland at Manchester City has further jeopardised Gabriel Jesus’ chances of gaining more playing time and the Brazilian wants out of the Etihad Stadium.

Jesus wants to remain in the Premier League, Arsenal and Chelsea are the front-runners for his signature. A bid of about £45m is reported to be enough to lure him away from Man City.

3. Sadio Mane

After 6 years at Liverpool, Sadio Mane wants a new challenge and has made it clear that he wants to leave Anfield.

Bayern Munich are favourites to sign him but have seen two bids knocked back already. Liverpool want at least €45m for Mane.

4. Raheem Sterling

The arrival of Jack Grealish at Man City has reduced Sterling’s game time at the Etihad. With the World Cup approaching, he wants regular minutes to ensure that he is part of England’s squad in Qatar.

Sterling desires a move away from City to guarantee more playing time. Chelsea are reported to be interested in his services and a fee of £60m will suffice.

5. Robert Lewandowski

Lewandowski has just a year left on his contract and with Bayern failing to meet his contract demands on time, the Pole wants to join Barcelona.

Although Bayern are reluctant to sell, Lewa is ready to force a transfer. Chelsea are also monitoring his situation.

Pogba departed Manchester United on a free this summer as the Red Devils did not offer him a new deal — having deemed him surplus to requirements and also as an expensive luxury.

He is likely to return to Juventus or join PSG should they appoint Zinedine Zidane.

Pogba was very successful during his first spell at Juventus — he won 8 major trophies, including 4 consecutive Serie A titles.

7. Romelu Lukaku

Lukaku joined joined Chelsea for a club-record £98m last summer but failed to live up to expectations at Stamford Bridge. The Belgian is keen to return to Inter Milan.

Inter cannot afford his huge transfer fee and want him on loan instead. Chelsea are ready to offload him and are ready to loan him out but want him to take a pay cut.

8. Jules Kounde

Sevilla defender Jules Kounde has been on Chelsea’s radar for a while and with the departures of Antonio Rudiger and Andreas Christensen, signing a centre-back is on top of the Blues’ transfer priority.

Kounde is on top of their wishlist and Sevilla are ready to let him go for €65m.

9. Paulo Dybala

Due to his inconsistent form and huge wages, Juventus decided not to renew Dybala’s contract and allowed him run down his contract.

The Argentine attacker is now a free agent with Inter Milan favourites to sign him.

Ousmane Dembele refused to renew his contract with Barcelona and departed the Camp Nou on a free.

Although PSG are interested in him, Chelsea are front-runners to sign him. The Frenchman is eager to test himself in the EPL.

11. Frenkie de Jong

New Manchester United manager, Erik ten Hag, is interested in linking up with Barcelona’s Frenkie de Jong. Ten Hag and de Jong enjoyed a successful period together at Ajax.

Due to their financial troubles, Barcelona are ready to offload the Dutchman in order to raise funds. A fee in the region of €80m to €100m will see a deal happen.

12. Ruben Nevez

Wolverhampton midfielder, Ruben Nevez, is one of the most sought-after players in the world at the moment. The Portuguese midfielder is wanted by various top clubs.

Barcelona are favourites to sign him because Nevez prefers a move to Camp Nou.

13. Marc Cucurella

Spanish fullback, Marc Cucurella, joined Brighton & Hove last summer and impressed in the Premier League in 2021/22. His performances have drawn interest from the likes of Manchester City and Chelsea.

City are likely to win the race due to the fact that Cucurella graduated from Barcelona’s La Masia academy and will love to play under Pep Guardiorla. The Spaniard is valued at around £40m.

14. Di Maria

Di Maria departed PSG as a free agent this summer and Juventus and Barcelona are jostling for his signature.

15. Christopher Nkunku

Nkunku scored 35 goals and provided 20 assists last season and is now wanted by top clubs.

The likes of Real Madrid, Bayern Munich, PSG and Chelsea want him.

He is one of the 12 players that impressed in the 2021/22 season.

16. Wesley Fofana

Leicester City defender Wesley Fofana is subject of interest from the likes of Chelsea and Manchester United. The Frenchman is valued at around €80m.

17. Raphinha

Raphinha impressed at Leeds last season and was one of the major reasons why the Blades survived relegation from the EPL.

The Brazilian is attracting interest from Barcelona and Arsenal.

18. Youri Tielemans

Arsenal are keen to sign Leicester City midfielder, Youri Tielemans, this summer. The Gunners are ready to go all out for the Belgian.

19. Gareth Bale

Bale left Real Madrid on a free this past season and is available on a free transfer. Cardiff are interested in bringing him back to his native country, Wales, but his huge wages will prove as a stumbling block.

If he isn’t ready to slash his wages, Bale may move to the MLS, China or the Middle East.

20. Bernardo Silva

Barcelona are interested in Bernardo Silva and the Portuguese is excited by the prospect of playing for the Catalans. Barcelona need to convince Manchester City to sell him at an affordable price.

21. Andreas Christensen

Like Rudiger, Christensen has departed Chelsea on a free and he’s expected to join Barcelona this summer.

22. Yves Bissouma

Brighton midfielder, Yves Bissouma, is wanted by the likes of Arsenal and Manchester United. The Malian is reported to be interested in securing a move to a top club this summer.

23. Kalidou Koulibaly

Napoli defender Kalidou Koulibaly is interested in moving to another club this summer. Barcelona, Manchester United and Chelsea have been credited with interest in the services of the Senegalese captain.

24. Antony

Manchester United are about to secure the signing of Brazilian winger, Antony, on a £51m from Ajax. The attacker impressed under new United manager, Erik ten Hag, in Holland last season.

25. Presnel Kimpebe

Chelsea are looking to sign at least two new centre-backs this summer. The Blues are ready to lure Kimpebe away from PSG.

Thomas Tuchel managed the Frenchman during his time in Paris while Thiago Silva also played alongside him.
